What exactly does it mean to be a male in today’s society? It is a question that seems to come up in so many aspects of life lately. By all accounts, most of my conclusions always end up with an answer that ultimately doesn’t seem fair. I have a pretty good perspective of what it used to mean and what it is expected to mean today and I want to dive into some of the finer details and try to answer some of these questions. My thoughts seem to always lead to answers that today make me look somewhat like a neanderthal, but is that necessarily a bad thing? Can some of what it means to be a “traditional” male still have a positive place today? I think so and I’m curious to see what you think. I am going to ask you to come at this from what I consider to be the most important direction and that is rationality and not emotion. If you can’t, then this might not be the place for you. I think that is the first established position you must start from to fully understand the truth from a man’s perspective.
